With cataract surgery scheduled for June 30th I attempted to get anything involving any heavy lifting out of the way. This was coupled with knowing it would be a short summer with taking a job planned for near the end of July. Not knowing if we would be able to go south in the fall we had to do as much preparation as possible for both staying or leaving and get any heavy lifting out of the way before the surgery. I greased the trailer wheel bearings and we cut and split wood until the woodshed was full.

Visit from Edmonton crew: Ezekial climbed tree next to dead tree, tied rope on dead tree and everyone pulled on the rope while I ineptly chain-sawed it. No more dead tree leaning toward fifth wheel trailer. Walked paths. Cross-bow target shooting. Tried out auntie Debbie's elliptical exercise machine. All went up to the provincial park for the day for boating, swimming, mini golf, etc.

Nick and Becky left us with the five kids in Edmonton for three days. Most of the burden fell on Juanita. I mostly hung out with Ezekiel. We worked on the new to him snow blower. I managed to get away with each child except the baby and check-out Tim’s and Mickey Dee’s and we all went to the nearby spray park.
I needed a paper clip to overhaul the snowblower carburetor. You can’t buy a single paper clip. You need to buy a box of paper clips. What do kids do with a box of paper clips? Make a chain.
I started eye drops on June 29, and had lenses replaced with plastic lenses in both eyes the next day. Juanita drove us home from North Battleford. Everything seemed very bright and kinda blurry for me.
