The Edmonton clan showed up before Thanksgiving and stayed a few days until heading southeast to spent Thanksgiving with Nick’s family. We all celebrated Odelia’s third birthday while they were here. Rebekah. like her sister, Deborah, seems to have been shorted a formal celebration. Oh well, there comes a time in life when you’re happy to have had another year, but don’t necessarily want to be reminded.

After celebrating Thanksgiving with the Meadow Lake clan we headed to Edmonton where I worked a two week long turnaround about an hour from Edmonton. The work got done on a Thursday. I finished an hour early and managed to get to the pool in time to see most of the diving lessons the kids are in. On Friday I attended an H2S Alive training course to update my safety certificates. While in Edmonton we managed to attend one of Ezekiel’s basketball games.
The truck gave up a service due message so I took it in for an oil change which was due for time if not mileage. The message was not for oil. It was the 108,000 km reminder to replace the Continuous Crankcase Ventilation filter on the Cummins diesel. Dealer wants $303 before taxes. I ordered one from Amazon for twenty percent of that.

While we were Edmonton we celebrated Eliana’s birthday. The family, a guest family, Juanita and I all headed to Galaxyland at the West Edmonton Mall for an evening of indoor amusement park rides. I stuck to the tame stuff often with Odelia. Tea Cups, anyone? Juanita was a bit more adventuresome. I/m sure the maintenance at WEM is better than a travelling carnival but logic couldn’t overcome the shortcomings in maintenance I fretted over the last time I was on a swing carousel. Odelia, Nick and I went to the old fashioned carousel.
We were back in Meadow Lake before Hallowe’en. As usual we had zero treat or treaters. A mile long road with six houses in the forest is not the stomping grounds of choice when there are streets full of houses packed together in the nearby town.
