As discussed in the Shop/Studio 2008 page we decided to build a shop / studio that would allow us to have a place out of the weather for doing hobbies and for when family was visiting.
The core building is a storey and a half with a 14 foot by 24 foot footprint. It is framed so that it can be expanded as shown above if we reach a point where we need a place to live year-round. In the meantime our grandkids think we have built them a pretty neat playhouse even if the proportions are a bit off while it remains in the 'core' mode - sort of a neo-grain elevator look.

Work done this season included:
- Soffits and fascia completed
- Main door replaced
- Upstair windows installed
- Siding completed
- Firestop blocking added
- R-38 fibreglas insulation in ceiling
- R-19 fibreglas insulation in walls
- Temporary second floor removed and assembled into storage shed
- Vapour barrier over fibreglas insulation
- 1 - 1/2 inch Styrofoam SM insulation on ceiling and walls
- SM insulation covered with 3/8 inch OSB (oriented strand board)
- Beams stained
- 2x6 T&G spruce ceiling/floor added and stained
- 3/4" OSB T&G subfloor added for second floor
- 12 volt downstairs lighting installed
- Candle candelabra added
- Second floor railing installed
- 2x4 framing for wiring and insulation added for ceiling
- Chimney extended 3 feet
Future season(s) work includes:

Complete 2x4 framing of exterior walls for wiring and insulation

Pull permit and do 110 volt wiring

Insulate exterior walls with additional R11 fibreglas insulation

Install gypsum wallboard
