The snow started getting serious in November. The snow blower got a workout. I eventually located where I had put the spare shear pins last spring. Enough said about that.
The car ended up with ice build-up on the wheels that shook things pretty well. A pocketful of loonies at the car wash fixed that, but it didn’t help the engine vibration I self diagnosed as a broken motor mount. Repair shops were booked solid. Managed to find one about a week out. In the meantime we drove the truck. A little uncomfortable ride and two and a half times the fuel consumption.

Several years back Ezekial auditioned for the Missoula Children's Theater and was accepted. This year they took three of the four kids and Ezekial was the male lead, Hansel. The youngest they took was aged around the cut-off age. The three-year-old has a few years to wait. After a week of rehearsal everybody was ready to perform. We drove from Meadow Lake in the truck and attended the afternoon performance on Saturday. Nick, Becky and Odelia attended both performances. We met up with them all at a pizza place afterwards. We started with Donair, but might have had a couple of pieces of pizza. 😉

I took the car to the shop. They called a few hours later. Motor mounts fine. Ice around the motor was the problem. No charge. I booked the truck with them for the CCV filter change. It’s something I could do myself but I choose not to do in my driveway in the snow at twenty below.
Meanwhile the windshield for the car arrived at the body shop and in it went for that. Plus to repair a ding of the hood from a grumpy homeless person in Dallas last year and to repair a quarter sized rust spot before it grew any more. Car looks great. I’m too lazy and cheap to get it detailed. That’s part of the service at the body shop. Looks great.

We showed up for dinner and a low-key celebration for Ernie’s birthday. Just the way he wanted it.
Well, that is how it was billed to Ernie after his and my scheme to do a surprise grad celebration under cover of his birthday didn’t make it through the planning stages.
Plan B was just Juanita and me showing up to celebrate his birthday.
He became aware of Plan C when we showed up with a stack of pizza boxes and then his brothers and sister and friends showed up. A good time was had by all. Maybe even Ernie.

Our daughter Deborah has been studying for nursing the last few years. Other than a licensing exam in January she has completed all the requirements to be issued her provisional license. We all celebrated at a surprise party at Deborah and Ernie’s house. Sasha and Deborah went to Lloydminster for the day and came back to friends and family waiting to party. Rebekah and four of her kids showed up from Edmonton. Nick and Ezekial were in Lethbridge for a Bible quizzing contest.

Off to Edmonton again for another birthday celebration. This time, Amadea’s fifth birthday. While in Edmonton I took the car in to have the tires road force balanced. That helped some and made things worse with one tire. That will be an ongoing sage I won’t bore you with. We stayed an extra day to cover for parents notching up volunteer hours to cover kids’ sports involvement.
That was pretty much the month. My new passport showed up. The application process was more complicated and expensive than my Eire passport this summer. It took longer to arrive as well, but not nearly as long as some of the horror stories we’ve heard. That reminds me. While in Edmonton I applied for a CIBC Costco MasterCard. The ongoing saga that has unfolded from that application reminds me why CIBC has gone from our main banking provider to around two percent of our banking.
