It's been a good month for being around people we know and respect and working mostly parallel and having lots of couple time together.
Anybody who has done a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator profile knows that the first parameter on the list is introverted vs. extroverted. This speaks to where one tends to get one's energy rather than whether you are a party animal or a loner. An introvert in this measurement gets his energy from being alone or being with a small group of friends. Juanita and I were alone as SOWERS on this project and it came at a good time. We had spent too much time recently either being apart from each other or around other people that tended to be energy drains.
It was good to be back at the Way of the Cross in Harlingen, Texas working alongside people who we admire for their commitment to furthering the kingdom and whose priorities are aligned with God's. It is a place where we tend to realize the need for a deeper commitment.
Many of the staff have been working at painting the warehouse in the past month. This is a task one has described as akin to "eating an elephant with a spoon". Juanita worked at removing overspray from a number of windows. There are a lot of them. Paul worked at plumbing repairs, adding hot water to existing sinks and adding a couple of hand washing stations to keep the health inspector happy. Plus there is a bit of planning to do for December when we will be joined by three other SOWER couples.

One Sunday afternoon we drove out to South Padre Island, visited the kite festival and had a late brunch. After brunch we walked on the beach and the sea wall enjoying the warm weather and handing out a few curved illusion tracts.

Near the end of the month we received word that Juanita's half-sister Gerri had died and we traveled to Houston for the funeral at the end of that week. One way or another funerals become part of your life as you get older. It's good to get to see relatives and friends and to celebrate the life of the departed. Just the same, they are not events we anticipate with joy.
We had arranged for another SOWER couple to get the rest of the SOWERS settled and hurried back to Harlingen for the "Welcome SOWERS" meeting for the 'December' project which actually started in the last days of November.
